Mike, Joel and I zipped in to Saskatoon today to get Joel's cast removed. We referred to Joel's cast as a boot the whole time he had it on so today was the day that "his boot came off". Today did not have a great start for me when I found that Colby had raided my gum and mint cache (that I keep just for work - I never want to be that teacher with coffee breath!), he scooped half a box of granola bars to take to school and he walked through the house with his shoes on. Since Joel wasn't going to school today, we slept in until 9:00 so Colby was on his own to get himself ready. Apparently he took advantage of being the only one up! On a side note, when we got home, we found that Colby had been home quickly after school...just long enough to leave a note to say he didn't have time to make supper because he had v-ball practise and yet he had time to eat half a 2L of ice cream and leave the basement light on downstairs. Breath...relax...breath...relax.
Anyways, even though it was a quick trip, the time spent on the highway to S'toon and back was really fun. I love road trips, even if they're just short ones. I packed us a great big lunch/supper since we knew we wouldn't be home until 6:00pm. So we feasted on bunwiches, carrot sticks, apple sauce and tacos and salsa. I had made up frozen bottles of Crystal Light for Mike and I and milk for Joel. Joel listened to his I-Pod on the way down and watched a movie on the way home which left Mike and I to chat. Our conversation always drifts towards "What will we do with all that money when we win the 6/49?" and we discuss our dream house and all the different vehicles we'll have...ya know, all the material crap that doesn't really matter, but that we all strive for anyways because we think it's some how fullfilling? We discussed baby names for our future babe and had some good laughs over names that would be just plain cruel to give a child. I hung out the passenger window in an attempt to get a good shot of the amazing sunset that was happening as we neared the junction. All in all, it was a really fun trip. We're heading back there next Monday to pick up his new splint...here's hoping that trip goes just as swimmingly! And now I'm off to obedience class with Shandi...here's hoping that the trainers continue to believe that Shandi's lack of movement when I tell her to stay is her actually listening and not just the fact that she is really, really, really lazy!
And so it happily goes...
Update: Shandi was unanimously deemed the cutest and sweetest dog at Obedience Class by the trainers...she may not be smart, but she sure is cute! One of the woman called her "an old soul" *sigh* that's my girl!
