Night #1

I'm coming to you, live, from the Holiday Inn in Edmonton. Our original plan was to drive straight to Red Deer tonight, but when I met Mike at the Esso in La Corey (near Cold Lake), we decided to spend a night here. We checked to see if there were any Fantasy rooms available at the Fantasyland Hotel, but they were all booked up. This was the next hotel we saw, so we stopped. They only had one room left - the executive suite which has a separate living room and bedroom with a king bed (and a TV in each room). As soon as we walked into the room, we realized that this is turning into a second honeymoon. Actually, in some ways it's better than our first honeymoon because on that one, out of the three nights we were away, we slept in the van for two of them!

As I'm typing, "Fargo" is playing on the TV. Not only is "Fargo" the first movie that Mike and I watched together (that was date number two!), but it is also our all-time favourite movie. And they're playing the unedited version with all the F-bombs (because the version where they use 'freezin' just isn't the same). We just finished eating the food we ordered through room service...and that is a first for us. I have always, always wanted to order something through room service and we never have. Actually, I've just always wanted to eat off a plate that was covered with a silver lid and then leave the tray in the hallway. :-)
