What an absolutely beautiful day it has been today! I didn't realize how badly I had cabin fever until now. Our day started off with brunch with Mike's mom and step-dad. After that, we went to look at the cabin they are having built and it will soon be moved up to Waskesiu. We helped them move some stuff from their house to the cabin. After that, Mike and I stopped by my parent's house to tend to their plants and pick up their mail. It was then that we realized we need to get our ski-doo back to our house before everything melts. My parents have kindly allowed us to park the sled in their drive-way since they have nothing but open field behind their house. We zipped back home so Mike could change into sled gear and went back to my parent's house. Mike drove the ski-doo into Flaman's fields and I met him in the parking lot. It was then that I realized I wanted to toodle around for a bit, but I was not in appropriate attire. But it was so nice out, I didn't need the ski pants and helmet, so I went for a rip just wearing my bunny hug and sneakers. Shandi even joined me for a little burn. Mike is still out sledding as I type this. I hope the snow doesn't all melt before he can make it home!
Around our house, these are a few sure signs of spring:
- wet dog prints being tracked into the house
- the amount of dog poop slowly being uncovered in the back yard
- the horrid amount of cigarette butts being uncovered (for all those times we missed the coffee can)
- the cats are meowing at the door and are wanting to go outside with Shandi
This last sign of spring is far from being my favourite. Now that it's almost time for t-shirts and capris, I hate that everyone else can see what I've been hiding all winter...the fact that it looks like I'm storing not one, but two children's inflatable inner tubes around my waist.
