A Wonderful Date

Tonight was supposed to be mine and Mike's eighth anniversary "date". Our anniversary isn't technically until Sunday, but when we found out that Stuart McLean was coming to Prince Albert, we bought tickets that very day. As it turned out, Mike wasn't able to make it back from Cold Lake for the show tonight. So, I asked Dixie to be my stand-in husband. And it was a wonderful night...a great supper at Amy's (complete with great conversation and scrumptious cheesecakes), an entertaining show and a great friend to share it with (although I was slightly disappointed there wasn't more hand holding involved). But the best part of the evening? When I went to get my picture with Stuart, I thought it was just going to be the usual "stand next to each other and smile". Instead, Stuart wrapped his arms around me and we hugged cheek-to-cheek. The smile that I had been practising while I was getting ready this afternoon was totally ruined...but I like the pure laughter and spontaneity of this picture much more.
