Two Decisions Down, One Million To Go

While I realize that I have been mum for quite a while on the topic of a baby, it's been for good reason...nothing is happening. I don't think I have said publicly on this blog the route that we are taking to bring a baby into our life. We have decided to go with in-vitro fertilization (yay!) and it is looking like it will be September or October when we will begin the process. It is quite a fascinating procedure and I will post more about it as the time draws near.

I have had baby baby baby on the brain for a looooooong time now. I am so excited to become pregnant and I am more excited to finally become a natural mother (as well as being a step-mom). I have already started buying baby clothes, some unisex, some more specific. I figure with the pinks or the blues, I can always give those to my brother's when they have babies. Or if we get another smaller dog, maybe she'll fit into them.

Since Colby has moved into his room in the basement, our second bedroom upstairs has been turned into a make-shift computer room. I am itching like crazy to start turning it into a nursery, but I want to wait until I am four or five months pregnant. Plus, I think it would be like decorating for Christmas at the end of October - by the time Christmas rolls around, it's not really that special anymore.

That being said, I have finally decided on what the theme for the nursery will be. For a couple of years now, I have wanted this one specific theme. When I started looking at nursery decor online, my decision was drifting back and forth from wanting something traditional (like ducks and lambs) to something more modern (pink and chocolate brown with paper lanterns and bubble mirrors or something) and then back to my previously chosen theme. Last night, the nursery decor's fate was sealed. I stopped at a garage sale on a neighbouring street and I scooped up the following stuffed animals:

Folks, it looks like we're going with a Care Bears theme! It's perfect because it's unisex, it's from my childhood, and I still have tons of my own Care Bear stuff that I can add to the room! While it may be too early to start decorating, it's never too early to start shopping!
