The other night as I lay awake in bed, I started to plan my 30th birthday party. Last year, when I planned Mike's surprise 40th, I had such a fun time with the planning, organizing and execution of the party, I told Mike I want to plan my own milestone birthday (no surprises for this chickie - I don't know if my heart could handle it!).
As I laid in bed, the party and its events grew and grew and grew until it neccessitated renting a hall and spending $1500. The party involved a ton of food, a karaoke machine, a magician and a blow-up bouncy castle for kids. I stopped the planning when I realized I didn't know where I could rent live giraffes and a couple of capuchian monkeys.
Let me stop for a moment to point out that the time span from our engagement to wedding was 4 months. And we only spent $3000. And that included my dress. I have nine whole months on my hands to plan my 30th...yikes!
The only thing I have decided on is what kind of cake I want and who I want to make it (I just haven't asked her yet since it is still nine months away). I haven't decided on taste yet, but I want it to be in the shape of a multi-colour Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 handbag (without the metal casings at the bottom). This will be as close as I ever get to owning a Louis Vuitton, except I get to eat this one :-)
I better get an invite to this lavish event! Can't wait. Mike better get to planning it...I wonder what that would turn out to be like??!?!?! :-)
ReplyDeleteOooh I know who you're talking about ;)
ReplyDeleteYou can ask her that far ahead. It's probably for the best since she is trying to only book one cake per week so she doesn't go crazy. And what if she books a wedding cake or something for the week you want your cake! :)
I will send you an e-mail then!! Yay!!!
