You Might Want To Double Check That

Last night at about 2:00am, I was reading in bed. Shandi was laying on the bed with me when all of a sudden her ears perked up and she looked towards the window. I was chewing on a piece of gum, so I stopped chewing to try and hear what she was listening to. I heard voices out on the street. I shut off my lamp and went to the window.

I saw a lone male walking down the street, carrying a case of beer and talking very loudly on a cell phone. He was staggering and swerving back and forth. I couldn't quite make out what he was saying, but I could tell he was getting angry. He cut across the street towards our front lawn. For a moment, I thought he was going to throw his cell phone onto our lawn.

Allow me to stop for a moment and point out two things (1) there is an intersection just across the street from us that leads from our crescent out to a busier street and (2) we are on the opposite end of the city from the river. I shall continue...

I dashed out to the living room to get a better view of him (all the lights were out in the house so I knew he couldn't see me). I waited until he was passed our house and then I opened the front door (quietly) so I could hear what he was saying. He was still yelling at whomever was on the other end of the cellphone. He was yelling that he didn't know where he was, but he needed someone to pick him up. When he reached the intersection, he looked to his right and happily proclaimed, "Wait!! There's the river! I see the river!! I must be on 2nd Avenue (which is also across town from us)...come pick me up!! I see the river!".

I quietly closed the door and went back to bed. Good luck with that one, buddy...I'm guessing the cops picked you up before your friends did :-)
