Things I Wish To Be, But Never Will

You reach a certain point in your life when you realize, "This is what I am". I don't mean personality wise - that can always shift and change. What I'm talking about is career wise. I am a teacher and I don't think I will ever stray from that. If I did, it would be to some sort of boring office job where I process applications or file stuff, but at least I would get to enjoy co-worker birthdays and casual Fridays :)

It's just sad to think there are things in my life that I will never, ever be or I will never, ever achieve. Following are all the things I would like to do/be when I have a second run-through of this thing called life:

- a concert pianist, violinist or celloist...with the London Symphony, of course

- a black gospel singer or an opera singer (hell, just having a decent singing voice would be nice)

- a ballet dancer

- a model (I am soooo hooked on watching past seasons of America's Next Top Model - that is a whole other post though)

- a pop star a la Britney Spears (sans the head-shaving, umbrella throwing melt down)

- an actress

- a forensics expert (not quite sure what field, but I know I seriously considered joining the RCMP before I went into education...I love solving mysteries!)

- a storm chaser...I love me a good thunder and lightning storm!

- a business woman who gets to wear pink suits (just like my Business Barbie did...how cool would that be to just turn your skirt inside out and voila! you're ready for a late supper date!)

- an editor with some big movie company (I cannot stand editing mistakes in movies...drink is full, drink is empty, whoops! drink is full again!)

- an author (I always wanted to write a teen series...something akin to Sweet Valley Twins)

I'm sure I will think of more things I will never be over the next few weeks to come. For now, I'll take satisfaction in that I am making small strides in working towards something I have always wanted to do...photography. I missed out on a beginner's course back in March, but there are a few people at work whose brains I can pick (what a gross saying). Some of the guys have even suggested we get a group of photographers together and learn from each other. (although I'm sure I'll do all learning and no teaching, but you have to start somewhere).

  1. I hear ya. I always feel that way when I hear the ages of celebrities. For example, I think Angelina Jolie is only 32. That means she's pretty much the same age as us.
And WAY more successful, and a celebrity obviously. Makes me realize that it will never, ever be me in this lifetime. Oh the joys of being 'regular'!! haha

  2. As I approach the big 3-0, I have been thinking about this stuff a lot as well. I have realized I will never be the wife of dreamy and talented Tom Hanks....shucks!!!
I'm slowly moving towards persuing more of my hobbies, etc. Good for you for continuing to work on your photography, videos, etc. You are much closer to Hollywood than I will ever be. :-)
I'm looking forward to your b-day party, where, at least we can spend one evening pretending to be famous and fabulous (well, I think we're pretty fabulous anyways).
