In Sickness And In Health

When I was sick, I spent A LOT of time sleeping and sitting in our big, comfy chair in the corner of our living room. To ease my cough, I created a tent over top of a humidifier on the floor. It was my only respite from coughing and coughing and coughing. I would spend at least a half hour under the tent and I did that every two hours. It was like a mini-spa for my face and therapy for my throat all in one. And because I couldn't lay down without coughing and coughing and coughing, I would end up sleeping in the chair, with my feet up on the ottoman. As I began to feel better, I made my way back into my spot in our bed.

Throughout this last week, I have been spotted back out in the living room. Because my hips/pubic bone have been so sore, we stole a rocking recliner from my parents' house (and some groceries...shhhh!). This recliner has become my saving grace! Although I start out sleeping in bed, by morning, I can often be found stretched out in the chair. And it's pretty much a guarantee that if I'm in the chair, Baby Kitty is on top of me and Shandi is beside me.

On Monday evening, I had the choice of stretching out for a nap in bed by myself or curling up in the recliner. I wholeheartedly chose the recliner. At least when I get up from sleeping in the chair, I'm not bent over and hobbling like a 90-year old. Seven weeks and counting...

Nov. 2/09 - me (under a quilt my great grandmother made) in my tent with the vaporizer. I was feeling well enough to at least give out some "jazz hands!!" for the photo op.

Yes, the picture is blurry, but that was what my world looked like for eight days. And, yes, I look like hell, but who has time to do their hair or put on make-up when you're laying on death's doorstep?

Nov. 16/09 - stretched out in the gawd-awful-orange-yet-oh-so-comfy recliner. Baby Kitty doesn't understand that her 12 pound body laying on top of my Bay-bee doesn't feel so greeat, but I don't have the heart to push her away.

All tucked in and ready to nap.

Kisses from Baby Kitty before I fall asleep. I often forget how gross this is, given that cats lick their own bum.
