All Thanks To Dick And Jane

I think I've mentioned before that I learned to read using the "Dick and Jane" series. During the summer before I started kindergarten, my mom was concerned that all the other kids in class would be able to read and I wouldn't. So, she sat down with me one night and taught me how to read. I hope to use these very same books with my children someday.

But maybe not this actual book.
























As I've been getting things ready for Baby's room, one of the things I wanted to do was frame a couple of "Dick and Jane" prints. As I was flipping through the various books and looking at the pictures, I couldn't help but think about the impact these books have had on my life. They jump started my love of reading and writing. As I opened the above book, I saw two short sentences that I had written on the inside cover when I was younger. The syntax isn't correct, but I was able to get my point across very clearly...
