Making The Most Of It

Because I spend 90% of my waking hours like this:

I have to be very efficient during the other 10%. And if I do say so myself, I'm kicking ass all over the place.

When Katelyn is awake, I'm likely holding her. The only time I put her in her bouncy chair is when I am eating or need to go to the bathroom. Other than that, she is in my arms. And I love it. When she's asleep during the day, I use that time to get all the things done that I can't do when she's awake.

In the two hour time span that she naps, it's time for laundry, cleaning, dishes etc. Before Katelyn was born, these are things that I used to let slide. Laundry would pile up until the baskets were overflowing and if I wanted clean underwear, my options were either wash a load of clothes or flip some dirty gitchies inside out. It was a similar situation with the dishes.

And now? These tasks that were viewed as bothersome before are actually more enjoyable now. I'm thriving on my efficiency in getting these chores done within a very small time frame. I'm also adding some other enjoyable "tasks" to my limited 'me' time. I've started making a scrapbook for Katelyn's cards (my mom did this for each of us kids...we have every single card we were ever given from birth to graduation and I think it's so neat to read back through them). That craft has lead me to wanting to make a vacation scrapbook for our trip to California in 2008. Plus, Mike and I still don't have a wedding album so I want to make one for that as well. In fact, since we bought a digital camera in 2004, we haven't added a single picture to our photo albums! Yikes! It is high time to get those pictures printed!

I keep reminding myself that none of these chores or tasks are as important as my time spent with Katelyn and that it's okay to let things slide. I do love me some Katelyn-cuddle time...how could I not with her adorable monkey face peering up at me?

For the record, I don't just sit at the computer all day with her. Sometimes we sit and watch TV :-)
