My sister and her two sons will arrive from Germany tonight. We're off to the lake on Monday for a week filled with family, swimming, eating, quadding, napping, reading, walks, campfires and nightly games of Kick The Can. This week, my mom's two siblings, their spouses and children will be at the lake as well (a yearly mini-family reunion of sorts). It has always been my favourite time of year, but this year will be extra special since this will be the first chance my sis gets to meet Little Miss Katelyn!
Since there is no internet at the lake, I'll leave you with this snippet of a conversation shared between hubby and myself:
(a bit of background first - I have OCD issues with Joel's bodily fluids ie saliva, urine etc. I don't like Joel's facecloths, eating utensils, bib etc. being placed on certain parts of the counter (any of the main areas where we prepare food) otherwise I have to Fantastik them down)
HUSBAND walks into kitchen and sets Joel's facecloth down on the cutting board.
WIFE: Don't! Don't! Don't! Please don't set that there! I just wiped it down!
HUSBAND: Seriously? Why does it bother you so much? You do know cerebral palsy isn't transmittable through saliva, right?
WIFE: It bugs me because it's gross and I don't want his spit mixed in with the apple I'm going to cut up!
HUSBAND: But you know that's not really going to happen, is it? You just think it will.
WIFE: But the thought of it makes me all twitchy.
HUSBAND starts to walk down hallway back towards Joel's room as WIFE calls after him.
WIFE: And for what it's worth, I also know that my brain will never be sliced up using dental floss, but that doesn't stop it from bothering me!
