You Want To Hear Something Sad?

At seven months, Katelyn can sit up.

She can reach for and hang onto small objects.

She can rub her eyes when she's tired.

She holds books.

She pulls blankets over her head.

She rolls over.

She can support most of her weight when she's standing.

At fifteen years old, Joel can't do any of these things.

Sometimes life just isn't fair.

How's that for starting off the week with a rain cloud hanging over your head?

I imagine after raising Joel that you don't take the Katelyn's health for granted. I think that many people don't realize how much more difficult things could be for them when they have a bad day with their child. But having raised a child with a disability definitely gives you a different perspective.

  2. Mike and I have both found ourselves wondering whether or not it bothers Joel that we cheer Katelyn on in all of her little milestones - rolling over, sitting up and so on. If it does bother him, he definitely doesn't show it and it doesn't lessen how much he loves his little sister :-)
