Getting Rid Of The Mountain

Whenever someone asks me how my pregnancy is going, more often than not, I'm fairly honest with them. By this I mean that I will disclose how horrifically backed up my plumbing system has become (hey...if you don't want to know, don't ask, right?).  I have been dealing with this issue for the past couple of months and it is as annoying as shit (pun intended).

I have been taking Senokot to help with this, but it isn't always effective.  It can still take a few days before the traffic jam clears up.  Last night while grocery shopping, I needed to replenish my supply of pills.  Alas,  Sobey's doesn't carry Senokot.  But they do carry Ex-Lax.  I thought to myself, "Same difference, right?".

How very wrong I was.

Here's a nice little analogy to describe the difference between the two:

Imagine there is a mountain...a huge, immovable pile of rock that is very stubborn and doesn't want to go anywhere.  Senokot would be like water erosion...it might not work very quickly, but it is reliable and you know that, over time, it is going to slowly get the job done and that mountain will eventually disappear.  Ex-Lax is most definitely NOT water erosion.  Ex-Lax is more like a dynamite company that is going out of business and wants to get rid of all their dynamite at once and so the lazy-ass foreman just finds a hole in the side of the mountain and shoves every last piece of TNT into that little hole, lights the fuse and runs like hell to get out of the area before the explosion goes off.

Never in my life did I think I would re-enact a particular scene from Dumb and Dumber, but that is where I found myself at 5:00 this morning.

Oy vey.
