Rockin' The Oils

For the longest time, I kept seeing essential oils everywhere and basically thought, "Bah humbug"...what can an oil actually do? I knew some people swore by them, but I thought it was all in their mind.  I don't know why I took such a stand-offish approach to the oils, but I did.

Lately, I've been wanting needing to take a different approach to my mental health.  I know now that drugs alone cannot fix me (I've tried pretty much everything on the market).  So, I've been wanting to attack my mental health from as many sides as possible...eating better, exercising, reading about mindfulness, listening to guided meditation (especially at bedtime) and so on.

Fast forward to a trade show in November.  I was chatting with an acquaintance at her spa booth and I spied some essential oil blends.  I figured, "What can it hurt? Either they will work or they won't".  I bought two different blends...one for PMS and one for anxiety.  I tucked them away in my purse and forgot about them for a few days.

On one particularly stressful morning, I was digging through my purse for gum when I came across the oils.  I read the instructions for the anxiety one and quickly dabbed it behind my ears.  I shit you not...within minutes, all was well with the world again.  I was calm!  And instantly hooked.

The oils I use are from The Healing Hollow out of Fernie, BC.  You can buy them from the Healing Garden Spa here in town as well, but since I like online shopping, I ordered a few more direct from the Healing Hollow :)  "Pain Away" does a fantastic job of ridding yourself of any minor aches or pains.  I woke up with a sore arm this morning (must have slept on it funny).  A little of the oil on the sore spot and ta da! Pain is gone! Works the same for headaches...a matter of minutes and the headache has disappeared!

I constantly smell like a myriad of oils...some behind my ears, some on the soles of my feet, some on my tummy...all working their magic.  Next up, I think I'll buy a diffuser for the house so there is a constantly oils at work.

It didn't take much for me to go from a non-believer to an oil-pusher...I tell everyone I know about essential oils now! Try them for yourself...they're fantastic!
