I apologize for the delay in posts...my computer was in the shop. We had a virus that needed to be removed and we had the memory doubled. We lost some programs (I'm a little choked that my DVD creating program is gone) but we also gained a few new ones (Microsoft Publisher! Woo hoo!). Having a break from the computer was actually kind of nice...I spent the evenings just relaxing in the living room reading and I am now fascinated by the author Ann Rule. She writes true crime novels and I just finished a book about Diane Downs. In 1983, she showed up at a hospital with her three children riddled with bullets and she claimed that 'a bushy haired stranger' shot them (one child died immediately, the other two survived but both were paralyzed). Turns out, she shot her own kids because the man she was obsessed with didn't want children, so she figured if she eliminated the kids, she would win the man. Really messed up, but really fascinating.
On to something new...Mike and I are quitting smoking. It has been a long time coming and we're finally ready to commit to quitting. Every time we light up, we berate ourselves for doing something so stupid. We're out of breath by the time we reach the top of the stairs. We cough. We wheeze. We hack. We stink. It's gross. And I'll be damned if I'm spending another winter shivering outside on the steps in a minus 30 blizzard. We're trying a hypnotist first. We also have a prescription for a new drug that's supposed to better than Zyban. The bonus is that you have to keep smoking for the first 10-14 days that you're taking it and you can also combine it with the patch, Nicorette gum or the Nicorette inhaler. We're going to do this full tilt. I'm just hoping that the hypnotist isn't a smart ass who throws in a few extra suggestions while we're under...like every time we see a green light, we cluck like chickens. Wish us luck...I have a feeling we're going to need it.
And so it healthily goes...
