I've Lost Count

When I was younger, it was rare that I got sick. I can count on one hand the number of times that I remember being sick (that's not to say that I wasn't sick more often...I just don't remember it). Since I've started my career, I have now lost count of the number of times that I've had a cold. I do, however, know that I've only had the flu twice in the past two years. Nasty incidents like that sort of stay with you. Those two instances are the reasons I no longer drink alcohol - who wants to pay to have a hangover when you can feel like that for free?

I'm not sure what I've got this time, but it's still in that starting off stage. When I woke up this morning, my nose and throat were raw, I had ear aches in both ears and my body was aching like I had just finished fighting in a UFC championship. Today is normally a full work day for me, but my job share partner and I switched mornings so I only had to go in this afternoon. It took all of my energy just putting on my uniform! After work, I promptly napped for two hours and I have been dragging my butt around all evening. As I was sitting on the couch watching the snow fall, a car got stuck in the snow in front of our place and I really wanted to go help him/her out. I turned my body in an attempt to get up. When the room tilted to the left and then to the right and then back to the left, I realized I'm not in the best condition to be pushing a Mustang out of some ruts (who drives a sports car in Saskatchewan in the winter after a 20cm snowfall??).

There's not much of a point to this post besides the fact that I really hate this 'inital stage' where you're not sure if it's going to turn into something full-blown and nasty and take three weeks to recover or whether I'm just going to feel crappy for the next three days. Either way, I'm thinking that it wasn't the smartest idea to shovel the drive-way in only a T-shirt the other night.
