What Have You Done With Your Life?

In my parents' home, I've noticed a theme/trend with the family photos that are on display. When I was at their house today watering their plants (and while Mike was shovelling their driveway...they're on their way home tonight!!), I glanced through the living room. It appears that only those who have accomplished some of life's major goals get the honour of having their picture on display. Here are the categories:

- grade twelve graduation
- university graduation
- getting married
- having children
- being dead

Okay, so the last one isn't really an accomplishment. And those pictures are not displayed in the living room. One of the guest rooms is jokingly referred to as "The Death Room" because if you're picture is in there, you're dead. That includes both relatives and animals.

As I looked at the living room pictures, I noticed that once I have children, I will have the most pictures in the living room. Not that I'm keeping score or anything. Who am I kidding...I'm keeping score. Just like how us kids use to count how many words we each got in the Christmas letter and then would razz and harass whoever got the least. On average, I think I won the Christmas letter competition since I lived at home the longest and have stayed in the same city as Mom and Dad. It's all about winning!

  3. LOL :) I've been wanting to do a post and asking the readers to leave a commment. I'm curious to see how many readers there actually are....maybe that will be my next post?

As for comments on other posts, if something doesn't 'strike' you...don't worry about feeling forced to leave a comment on each post. If you're reading and getting a kick or a laugh out of what I've read, that's good enough for me! Thanks for the compliment!

  4. I've often wondered if it is tacky to have a shrine of yourself and all your accomplishments in your own home!?!?! I think you should start one in your front room (hahaha!!!)

  5. Oh I've thought about it...trust me. The first major accomplishment in my life that I would I immortalize in a photo shrine would be that damn green shirt...you all thought I wouldn't be able to do it. But, boy, did I prove you wrong! LOL
