Do you know how good it feels to be told you're beautiful by someone who doesn't have to say it? I'm not talking about Mike (although he does tell me I'm beautiful and I do believe that he means it). But I get told I'm beautiful about fifteen times a day by someone else. It's the first thing he says to me in the morning and it's the last thing he says before he goes to sleep. I'm talking about Joel. Before he leaves for school in the morning, he tells me I'm beautiful at least five times. When he gets off the bus after school, he says, "Hi Mom! You're beautiful!". He tells I'm beautiful after I've finished feeding him supper. He tells me I'm beautiful after I've changed his diaper. He tells me I'm beautiful while I'm giving him a bath. He tells me I'm beautiful while I'm clipping his nails. He tells me I'm beautiful every chance he gets. The more he tells me, the more I'm starting to believe him :-)

A few weeks ago when I kept the boys for the weekend, I was giving Joel a snack in the middle of the afternoon. Joel reminded me that he would need his medicine soon. Since we normally don't have them for weekends and since the usual routine is medicine right after school, I was curious as to how Joel knew it was time for meds. I began to prompt him and I was assuming he was going to point at his alarm clock and say that it was 3:45 and that's how he knew. Instead, he pointed to his right at the wall by his closet and said, "S-U-N" meaning that the sun was hitting the wall the same way it does after school. Screw the digital alarm clock...someone get this kid a sundial.
