Summer Nights

What more could I ask for? It's a beautiful Friday night, I have the house to myself (until Mike shows up from running errands with his buddy) and it's officially the beginning of summer! Starting tonight, we're going back to doing a week and a week with the boys' mom, so we have the next seven days to ourselves! Of course, I'm still working everyday, but it will be soooooo nice to come home from work and not have to make a full supper. If I want toasted tuna sandwiches five nights in a row, then I can have toasted tuna sandwiches for supper five nights in a row. And I won't have to get fully dressed before I leave the bedroom in the morning. Mind you, I suppose for the sake of the neighbours I should put something on when I go out for my morning coffee and cigarette.

So what's the first thing I did tonight when I finally had the house to myself? The same thing I always do: play Mahjong and sing "Travelling Soldier" by the Dixie Chicks (accompanied by the appropriate karaoke song). I don't quite sound like the lead singer from the Chicks, but that doesn't stop me from giving it all I've got.

Once Mike gets home, our evening will consist of pretty much the same thing we do whenever we have a night off together - laying in bed and blowing people to smithereens on Grand Theft Auto. We might pick up Call of Duty IV this weekend since we heard there's a lot more killing in it. It's such a redneck thing to do, but it's just such a great stress reliever. Seriously. You should try it. If you don't have the game or a PS3, you're all welcome to just stop by, hop into bed and give it a whirl. Trust me - you'll find yourself hooked pretty quickly.

On a side note, the lemon platy finally packed it in. I found her wrapped around the filter intake on Thursday morning. The force of the suction had popped her eyeball out. I'm hoping she was long dead before it happened.
