I had the cyst cut out of the top of my head today. While they were at it, I asked them to remove another growth off my shoulder. That one started out as a small bump and when Mike tried to pick it, it exploded under my skin, turned black and has stayed that way for the past year (turns out it was a fibrous cyst). I had the cyst on my head removed last January, but it has since grown back. As soon as I walked into the operating room, I pointed out to the nurse that I was told they no longer need to shave my head. So, all of my hair is still intact. Except it was matted with blood and surgical gunk, but I'll take that over losing a tooney sized chunk of hair.
This time around seemed to hurt a lot more. I could feel the doctor scraping and pulling and I was supremely grossed out. Mike and I are freaks in the sense that we like to document this sort of stuff on film, so Mike was busy snapping away the whole time the doctor was cutting.
Getting ready for the table...it looks like I'm wearing the light as a hat.
The cyst -so so gross and yet strangely fascinating...
The one on the back...it was the size of a pea and just a tough little ball of tissue.
It's tough to see but I actually am smiling in this picture.
Super freak, super freak!!!
ReplyDeleteYou probably regretted not taking your camera along last time (haha), so had this time all planned out, didn't you! Again, only you Jyl!!!
Yes, yes I did LOL. This fascination with capturing gross things on film was actually handed down to me from my mother - she has photos of broken fingers, smashed faces, Brady's colostomy (which is truly disgusting) and my surgeries. We're a family of super freaks I guess LOL.
