A Relaxing Week

I have fallen into a nightly rhythm of pampering myself in some way. Each night, I choose from any number of the following:

(1) filing the dead skin off my heels, coating my feet in Vaseline and then putting on the lotion socks
2) rubbing my minty leg/foot lotion all over my calves
3) doing the Satin Hands treatment (from the Mary Kay line)
4) putting on a peel or mask
5) doing the Satin Lips treatment (again, from MK)
6) drinking vanilla chamomile tea while nibbling on Cranberry Citrus Oat Crunch Peak Freans...yum!!

I just seem to be in this place of wanting to cleanse...not just my house, but my body as well. It just feels so nice at the end of the day to relax and be pampered!

On Monday night, everyone got some form of pampering.

We started off by giving Joel a hair cut and then a bath with the jets on.

Then, he received a full pedicure, complete with a foot scrub, calf massage and then doing the Vaseline/plastic wrap with socks on.

Joel was quite concerned over why I was wrapping his feet in the plastic wrap. I told him that I was putting barbeque sauce on them and then we were going to bake them for an hour at 350 :-)

I scrubbed Mike's feet with a gritty scrub, slathered his feet in lotion and put the lotion socks on him. While he laid on the bed and played hockey on PS3, I gave him a leg massage with the mint leg cream.

After that, it was Shandi's turn. I bought a Pedi-Paws from Walmart. The instructions really stress that you slowly introduce your dog to the noise and feel of the instrument before trying to file any nails. I sat with Shandi for only 15 minutes before we got to the point where she had learned if she touches the wand, it would turn on (I turned it on) and she would get a treat. Within an hour, Shandi was lounging on her back (on my lap) as I filed her nails and feed her cheese and meat. She looked like an Egyptian princess being fed grapes :-)

It was my turn next. I scrubbed, lotioned, wrapped and massaged my feet. While my feet were tingling and relaxed, I put on a facial peel. The mask was to stay on for 20 minutes, but after 10 minutes, my face was tight I could barely open my mouth! As I began to peel the mask off, Mike started snapping pics...he said it looked like I was ripping my face off. There were moments where it felt like I was, but man, oh, man was my skin smooth!!

  1. Just wondering if your spa will be open when I come for a visit, LOL. Does the nail filing machine you bought for Shandi work well?

  2. Of course the spa will be open! Would Matt like to do a facial peel as well? LOL

It will take a few more days of sitting with Shandi before I really can tell. I would hold each claw for a moment or two before she would flinch so I only got to take a little off at a time. Her nails still feel quite sharp, so obviously I didn't take enough off. I bought the file because I cannot cannot cannot clip her nails with regular clippers (the whole nail phobia thing and what if I accidently cut down to the vein...yikes!).

  3. Shandi never fails to surprise me... she is the most lovely dog in the world (like our Cocco, obviously...you know...they should meet!!)
Wow, so many nice treatments! Did Joel enjoy the pedicure? He is soooo sweet.
I should do it too, in winter my feet are neglected, while in summer I absolutely LOVE to have my toenails done by a professional.
I tried the peeling a few times but I never found one that peeled like a second skin... Is that from Mary Kay as well?...uhm, need to check that one, never heard it before... you know I am curious.
A big kiss to all of you!

  5. I agree, I also love the pic of Joel & Mike. And the pics of you peeling your mask off are awesome! Did Mike take those while you're looking in the mirror? From here feels like I'd be standing beside you while you look in the mirror doing that (I hope I'm explaining myself well enough). Very cool. I feel like I'd see these in the mall or something on display. Love it!
