I have really enjoyed the last two weekends because I have been able to indulge in some retail therapy. After the failed IVF cycle, Mike was pushing me to buy myself some "fun, new, unneccessary" things...clothes, make-up, whatever. But, without a paycheque and with no EI cheque anywhere in sight, it wasn't possible at that time. So, I went on another little shopping spree this weekend:

A cute pair of runners for when my spring walks start up (once all this stupid snow goes away).

I have been looking waiting for over a year for these shoes to show up in my size!

Throughout the year as I was waiting for the brown ones to arrive, I decided I may as well pick up the black pair and the khaki pair! When I really like something, I always have to have one in every colour :-)

The picture doesn't do this shirt justice...this pic makes it look like a black and white tie dyed shirt circa 1989. It's actually cream coloured and a dark grey/green. It does an excellent job of highlighting my good features and hiding the not-so-desirable tummy area. Plus, it will work as a maternity shirt :-)
I also bought a new pair of jeans and another black shirt that was one sale. We went to a friend's house for a barbeque last night (in -25C!) so it was a perfect chance to wear my new outfit! Throughout the evening, I drank three paralyzers and, boy, did I pay for it today! I was so nauseous and dizzy all day (until Mike went and got us some Wendy's - that seemed to clear up all my ailments immediately!). I ended up sleeping for most of the afternoon (sorry for missing our chat Valeria!) and now I am scrambling to get my laundry done for tomorrow.
I guess if I'm wanting to make it Europe sometime this year, I guess I should quit my weekend splurges. BUT if I quit my shopping, I won't look as fabulous strutting down the little cobblestone streets!
That shirt is lovely! You will look great as we stroll the high streets here. I can see you wearing this shirt, a pair of dark long trousers and sandals...
ReplyDeleteNice shoes as well, I like those trainers!
Are you better today?!? I guess that "paralyzers" are strong drinks? Whisky? I like to drink some beer and feel my head light...
Paralyzers are vodka, milk, Kaluha and Pepsi...I guess their name does make them sound like really strong drinks, but they're actually creamy and you can't really taste the alcohol.
ReplyDeleteI have to go grocery shopping after work today, but I am hoping that we have time to chat this week...we are long over due for one!
I could use a little retail therapy myself... badly, like Matt should be afraid. Very afraid!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the shoes! I'm a shoe freak. I think I have the same khaki ones as you or else very very similar.
