I logged into Facebook this morning and saw a message from my friend, Carmen. As soon as I read it, I was thrown into hysterics and felt like I was twelve years old again! Carmen had two extra tickets to the New Kids On The Block concert in Saskatoon for tonight. Her message said the first person to call her got the tickets. As I was racing to grab the phone and frantically dial her number, I felt like I was in a radio contest!
Long story short, I scooped three tickets from her (which she will most definitely be compensated for! I am not taking them for free!)...one for me, one for my friend Nicole and her friend, Marina. I'm going to be sitting with Carmen, another girl and my bestest friend from years ago, Deena. I can't remember the last time I saw Deena, but it is going to feel like no time has passed at all when we meet up tonight. If any woman knows how deep my obsessions can truly run, it is Deena. We spent many a night obsessing over boys on my brother's hockey team! Great times and awesome, awesome memories.
Tonight, I am going to revert back to my twelve year old, screaming self. The New Kids concert was the very first concert I ever attended (1991 I think). My dad drove me and my friend, Karen, to Saskatoon for the concert. I'm pretty sure our hair was crimped and whatever we were wearing, it was most likely neon and very, very bright. We sat in the jump seat of the station wagon and listened to my homemade mixed New Kids tape and sang at the top of our lungs. Our seats were at the very back of the stadium, in the nosebleed section (seriously...there were only three rows left behind us). My grandma had loaned me her opera glasses/binoculars and I'm grateful she did. Without them, the New Kids looked like ants, dancing on a tiny stage.
That won't be the case tonight...we are at least on the main floor for the concert. Mike commented that he hasn't seen me this excited in a long, long time. It's funny - when I saw the New Kids were coming to Saskatoon, I thought about getting tickets, but then forgot about it. When I logged into FB this morning and I saw all the girls statuses talking about the concert tonight, I instantly got jealous. Now, I'm one of the lucky ones that is going!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go dig up my old crimper and neon shirts :-)
OMG, it was so great to see you again last night. Next time I'm in Pdot, we will have to book a longer catch up session. I'm so excited for our eternal excitement of last night's exciting evening!!!If we weren't obsessed 20 years ago, we will definitely be now. I heart you!!!!
