Jokes I'd Like To Play, But The Recipient Might Not Find Them Funny

1) A few weeks ago, I went over to my parents house to take in their mail. As I was pulling into the driveway, I noticed two little boys delivering flyers. They were several houses away and heading in my direction. I should quickly explain that my parents have a slot in the wall of the garage so the mail can just be dropped into a large box. This way, the deliverers can't see the mail piling up. As I was standing in the garage emptying the box, I heard one of the little boys walking up the driveway. I was beyond tempted to wait until he was just about to lift the metal flap and then I was going to jam my hand out through the slot and reach around for the flyer, as if I was Thing from Addam's Family. It would have been funny for me, but this little guy was only seven years old. I would have given the poor little guy an irrational fear of mailboxes for the rest of his life!

2) We haven't taken our bottles and cans in for recycling in over a year. As a result, we have six (count them...six!!) large, clear plastic bags FULL of cans and a few bottles (we don't buy those big 2L bottles very often since they go flat so quickly). I know we should take them in soon, but I want to wait until some kids come around asking for bottle donations for whatever sports team they are on. Then I will ask them to meet me around back in the garage, drag all six bags from the back of the garage to the front, pick one bag, slowly open the top, hand them one solitary can and then wish them luck on the rest of their bottle drive.

If I wasn't so nice, I could be oh so cruel :-)

  2. In Canada, when sports teams are trying to raise money for trips, they go door-to-door asking for people to give them some of their recyclable bottles. The team takes all the bottles they recieve to the recycling center and gets the money for them. It's easier than asking for money donations I guess.

It's interesting...what seems so normal to us (because we all had to do it as kids when we played sports) would be a totally foreign concept to others. In Italy, do you get money when you return your glass and plastic bottles?
