We went to a different ultrasound place yesterday in an attempt to avoid another experience like this. We gave up the privilege of knowing the details instantly for someone who actually possessed an inkling of bedside manner. The tech yesterday wasn't able to comment on whether things looked "normal", but she was super sweet. She did all her measurements and took the photos she needed. When she was done, she turned the screen so that I could see it clearly and then she pointed everything out.
The aspect that amazed me the most was being able to see Baby's perfect little nose/nostrils and her beautiful little lips. The tech held the u/s wand steady over Baby's face (so that the image stayed on Baby's face instead of changing from skull to face). I can tell you right now this child will definitely have the Loewen nose (my siblings and cousins on my dad's side all have the same nose)! We saw the bottoms of her little feet (oh! how I wanted to reach out and tickle them!), her tiny little legs and her amazing little hands and arms. We even got to watch her tiny little body jump from her hiccups! The best part was when we saw her little arm reach up and punch my uterus (or placenta or whatever) and I actually felt it...what an amazing thing to experience :-)

Thank you so much for sharing baby's pictures with us! It is so exciting...I can't wait until she makes her debut!
ReplyDeleteShe is fantasti! You will soon held her in your arms and kiss her all the time! I am so happy for you!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen is the due date?
I'm pretty smitten with her already :-)
ReplyDeleteThe due date is January 5th...I am going to be one plump turkey by the time Christmas arrives!
I will post baby belly pics once my belly starts to show more...when you start off your pregnancy with a flabby tummy, it takes a while for Baby to show through :-)
Ooo my birthday is January 4th, maybe we could share a birthday :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool ultrasound pics! Often all I see is blobs that people swear is their baby's face/hand/etc. But these ones are quite clear!
Amazing, I remember seeing the little flicker of Carys heart in our first ultrasound, what a great feeling!
ReplyDeleteSo it's a GIRL!!!! She is beautiful Jyl, I can hardly wait to meet her as I'm sure you can hardly wait either!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats ;) January is coming VERY fast!!!
They only gave us the "80% sure it's a girl" but my intuition has said right from the start that it was a "she". But no one can ever know for sure until they make their debut!
ReplyDeleteBaby looks soooo cute ;) Congrats !!!
