...I don't think I'm ever going to get it. The Christmas spirit, I mean. The presents are wrapped, Christmas baking is done, appies are prepped and we're getting ready to leave for Saskatoon for the start of four days of Christmas. But I am just not in the holiday mode. Obviously, my mind is on other things :-)
Our house decorations this year border on the side of pathetic. We bought a new tree this year (a pre-lit one). The extent of the decorating was pulling it out of the box, piecing it together and plugging it in. I didn't even unfold the branches. There is one lone decoration on it...a baby decoration that my mom bought for us. To make up for the lack of decor, for the first time ever I actually put the boys' presents under the tree. They normally stay hidden in the closet until Christmas Eve morning (which is when we've always opened presents with them because they go to their mom's house Xmas Eve night), but the tree needed a little help to make it less sad looking. The other night, I'm pretty sure I saw the tree crying a little. Either that, or the dog peed under the tree. Whatever.
So, as the holidays are about to begin and, even though I'm sitting here focusing more on what to pack in my hospital bag than I am about what's waiting under the tree for me, I want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! I will be back next week!
