Waiting Quietly

Christmas was good. Busy, but good. I never did get into the spirit. Perhaps it was because there was a lot of back and forth travelling involved, along with too many late nights, early mornings and way too much running around and prep work. I'm just thankful the holiday is over and that my Baby won't have to share her birthday with Christmas day.

Sunday was the first day where I did absolutely nothing. No cutting up veggies, making desserts or prepping appies. No building baby furniture, grocery shopping or checking to-do lists. No looking after Joel, getting drinks or changing diapers. Nothing but bathing, eating and napping. And I fully plan on the rest of the week being like this. Baby's room is done, my hospital bag is packed and now it's just a waiting game.

I'm not tired of being pregnant. I'm just getting impatient to meet her. I want to count her little fingers and toes, stare into her eyes and snuggle with her. The thing that is the most frustrating is the that there is no one sign that will tell me when labour will start. I may or may not have bloody show. I may or may not lose my mucous plug. I may or may not have mild contractions. The only sign that something is happening is that I have FINALLY started to slightly swell...my feet have a little extra layer of of fluid surrounding them. Other than that, this bay-bee is showing no signs of wanting to join the rest of the world. She could very well hunker down in my uterus until she's eight years old.

My next post will show up tonight around 7:00. The rest of this week's posts are time delayed...I wrote them last week, just in case I ended up in hospital for New Years. For now, I'm climbing back into bed and I'm not coming out until labour has started :-)

  1. Hey Jyl,
Glad to hear that you are finally relaxing, it's about time. I have everything for the hospital bag I just have to put it in one. Don't forget nursing pads, I don't know how it will go for you but my milk always comes in on day two. So you are finally swelling huh, that is a riot! Maybe you just know your body that well...I will take back my thinking you were a lunatic! Call me if you feel like chatting or you have any concerns.
