This is Dixie here, one of J's good friends (who unfortunately now lives nine hours away from J). However, thank the Lord for cell phones because I just got off the phone with J who was laying in her hospital bed with an epidural in her back and in absolute heaven!
J told me to relate the following to everyone anxiously awaiting the news:
- J's contractions which had started at 8:30am this morning kept getting stronger and stronger. She and Mike decided to go to the hospital at 12:30pm and when she arrived she was 7cm dilated! (She does have an amazing cervix!)
- J very quickly decided that an epidural would be a good choice because the contractions were very strong and 5 minutes-ish apart. The first epidural didn't work. But the second one did, and I will reiterate her phrase once again: "heaven".
- It's now 3:15pm and she hasn't been checked since the epidural went in. The nurses are just waiting for her to feel pressure and the urge to push and they're all betting on it happening before the shift change at 7pm.
So now I wait for the next call when I will likely hear little baby noises in the background. Go J! You can do it! You've got so many people here rooting you on today! I'll post again when I get the news.
Beautiful day :)
