My Apologies...

...to any of you who are tired of reading or hearing about Baby. If you are, I'm guessing you gave up reading long ago, so I digress. Obviously, I'm in full-on Baby Watch mode, but I'm getting nothing in return...absolutely zero in terms of signs that this baby is going to show up some time before she graduates from kindergarten.

I should have been swollen up like a balloon after the ass-kicking I took from cleaning the basement yesterday, but oh no, my feet stayed totally normal. Every time I go to the bathroom, I'm waiting and watching for my mucous plug (yummmy!), but oh no, there's nothing there. I'm waiting for my water to possibly break, but oh no, my pants stay totally dry. There's no boob leakage and very few Braxton Hicks. Nothing. Nathan. Nada. This babe has settled in for the long haul.

On Wednesday afternoon, I am going to my Doc for a membrane stripping and to take a shot of castor oil. Worst case scenario means I end up literally crapping my pants without the payoff of having a baby afterwards. Best case scenario is obviously ending up going into labour finally. At the very least, if all I get out of it is to experience REAL contractions, I'll take it for the time being. Even if Baby doesn't show up for another week or two. That's all I'm asking for right now - a taste of what I'm in for.

On a side note, my maternity wardrobe has three rules...as long as it's clean, comfortable and I can get dressed by myself, then it's all good.

  1. Oh Jyl, I feel for ya. It sounds very much like my experience with Palmer. I hope it doesn't go as late for you as it did for me.

My one piece of advice and this is WAYYYYY TMI (but was also recommended in Jenny McCarthy's book Belly Laughs) - whatever you do, do not do "it". Her words, not mine = pig in a pasture. It ain't pretty. I did not heed those words since everything we'd tried, (membrane stripping too) didn't work and boy oh boy do I regret ignoring her words of wisdom.

I hope stuff starts movin' along for you real soon since I know that EVERY SINGLE DAY feels like a month at this point. Hang in there!

  2. LOL...I can confidently say that will NOT be one of the things we will do to try and bring about labour. If we haven't "tried" it in the last two months, it definitely won't be happening in the next two weeks. Possibly TMI on my end (for my husband's sake) but it's the truth :-)

And you hit the nail on the head with every day feeling like a month. The only light at the end of the tunnel is that she MUST come out eventually. If someone could just tell me the day it will happen, I'd be content waiting until January 27th or whenever it would be. It's the not knowing that is driving me nuts. That, plus I'm so excited to finally be able to share her name!!!

  3. If it is any consolation, my water didn't break until my doc broke it for me...as I was in full labour...everyone is different..the little princess will come out when she is good and ready....Kristen was exactly one week later (due Dec 23, came out Jan 4) Hang in there, she will come out :)

  4. I'm still reading! I can't wait to hear when it happens, how it goes and what the name is!

  5. Hey Jyl,
The best method that has ever worked for most people I know is a foot rub.
    I'm serious.
So many girls (including myself) have gotten an hour-long foot rub the night before they went into labour.
I would try that before the castor oil. Less poo poos :)
Good luck!!! *GASP!* It's so close!!

  6. Yeah, maybe try going for a reflexology treatment. I know there are pressure points that stimulate uterine contractions....
