That morning that I finally did come home, Shandi was sitting and watching out the window. When we made eye contact, Shandi went nuts. I could see her skidding around in the living room, wagging her tail so hard, her body nearly bent in half. She was excited, to say the least, until I got inside and she caught a whiff of Katelyn. Right then, she knew something was different.
Right from the start, Shandi has been very protective of Katelyn. The day after I was home from hospital, we had a bunch of family over for supper. As different people were cuddling Katelyn, Shandi would move and sit next to whomever was holding her, as if to say, "I know you have her and I'm just making sure you're treating her gently". When Katelyn is in her crib and she cries, Shandi will run and sit in front of the her crib. If we're holding Katelyn and she squawks, Shandi runs to give her a sniff. Shandi is in either one of two places...on the couch and staring out the window, or laying in Katelyn's room.
I have a feeling the two of the them are going to be best friends.
That's so sweet! Pets are great!
