I'm not trying to brag when I say what I'm about to say. I'm merely stating it because I am still in complete awe....Katelyn is such a good, quiet baby. In fact, she is so quiet that I actually asked my doctor whether he wondered if she was delayed. He laughed and said "No, you're just very blessed". I've said it before and I will say it again...the only time Katelyn squawks is if she is hungry or wet. Other than that, this is what my day with her looks like:
She is more than content to sit in her bouncy chair, suck on her soother and watch me do whatever. I move the bouncy chair to wherever I might be working, but if I'm just slipping out of the room for a second, I don't haul the chair with me. She's okay with being left alone for a minute or two while I switch laundry loads or go to the bathroom.
So, after stating the above, how many moms are going to want to drop kick me in the throat when I talk about what a horrible night we had on Thursday when Katelyn had the flu? I know, I know "Oh, boo hoo!" that I've had ONE horrible, long, sleepless night out of the 51 nights we've had together, right?
But it's all relative and, for both of us, it was the night that would never end. She didn't want to eat. She had stomach gurgles. She didn't want to be held. She didn't want to lay down. Nothing made her happy. She whimpered and wept the majority of the night. At times, I whimpered along with her. She finally fell asleep around 3:00am and slept for a couple hours. That was all I needed to recharge for the following day. By mid-Friday, the bug seemed to clear up and she was back to her normal, adorable self.
Let's hope the next bug comes around later rather than sooner.
