This morning, we took Katelyn for her four month shots. I asked the nurse not to ring that gawd awful bell (a vain attempt to try and distract the babies)...I wanted to be Katelyn's source of comfort. For the first needle, she let out a shriek for a second or two and tried to twist away. Other than that, she was calm. Supposedly the second needle stings a little more, so I was prepared for full-on tears from her. After the second shot, she did cry, but it only lasted for about ten seconds before she zeroed in on the tube of chapstick I was holding in front of her and all was well with the world again. It took the health nurse a moment to collect her jaw off the floor.
It's as though I've given birth to Baby Alive. She eats, poops and, to get her eyes to close, all I have to do is lay her on her back.
I'm a very lucky mother.
Éloise had her 4 month shots today too - first shot, not a peep. Second shot - I'm pretty sure you may have heard it all the way out there ;)
ReplyDeleteI did hear screaming, but it was the baby in the next room :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the shots are only going to get worse for Katelyn...eventually she'll be screaming before we're even off the elevator :-)
