My Newest Addiction

Hello.  My name is J.  And I am addicted to online shopping.

It started off innocently enough about seven years ago.  I discovered ebay and ended up bidding on a t-shirt and, Oh!, what a t-shirt it was.  It was adorned with the Sweet Valley High emblem AND it was autographed by Brittany and Cynthia Daniel (the girls who played the twins on the TV show).  I couldn't afford not to buy it. Fast forward to this year but add a wee baby to shop for as well.  I just. can't. stop.

In the last month, I have bought:

- books from Amazon (but not just any old books - these are favourites from when I was little)
- hair clips/headbands
- baby leggings
- a bumbo chair
- a nursing pillow (this and the bumbo chair were both off Kijiji but that still counts as online, right?)
- a t-shirt for Mike
- an old mini-arcade game (Donkey Kong Jr - woohoo!)
- two gifts for my sister (which I won't say because they haven't shown up yet)
- a Miss Piggy paper doll dress up kit (also from my yesteryears)
- Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario 3 for NES

What can I say - I am hooked on reliving my childhood.  Maybe it's because I finally had to admit that I'm actually a grown-up??

  2. Deena...I'll list my favourite sites in the next post :-)

Shutterbug...I wanted my daughter to know the joys that I had with paper dolls :-) Actually, I want her to experience a lot of the toys/games/books from my childhood!

  3. I love Super Mario too! The main reason I got a Wii was to download all the old Mario games, and boy did I!

  4. Amarie - how do you like playing the old games with the Wii controller? I have a Wii too, but haven't downloaded any of the Mario games solely because I wanted to relive the game with the old controller (you know, where it's still connected to the game box and when you were trying to make Mario jump, you'd yank the entire console away from the wall?) :-)

  5. haha...I remember doing that! Well, if you'll remember the original 8-bit console controllers, they look very similar to the Wii controllers, and they work the same. The game play is exactly the same as it used to be for the first 3 games! But for the Super NES Mario Games, you'll need the 'classic controller' which is also basically the same. It's awesome I tell you, and all the games will be right there in one place, no switching cartridges! lol
