Eight Months Old

Dear Katelyn,

I cannot believe that I am writing my eight month letter to you.  In the blink of an eye you have grown from a wee, tiny newborn into this giggling, goofy little girl.  You are an absolute card and I wouldn't expect anything less from a child of mine.  At times, your response to our attempts at making you laugh is almost perfunctory - you let out a half-hearted fake laugh and quickly turn your attention to something more interesting.  Like my chapstick or the tag on your blanket.  Between your facial expressions, your antics and the variety of noises you make, you keep me laughing from morning 'til night.

At eight months old, you:

- are waving bye-bye

- army crawling your way around the living room

- saying "ma-ma" "ba-ba" and "ga-ga"

- can scream with your mouth closed

- can feed yourself a bottle

- are sick and tired of having your outfit changed three times a day simply because I can't decide what I want you to wear

- are wearing 12-18 month clothing

- are sleeping 12 hours a night

- always always always smile when you wake up

- love being in Joel's room

- love playing peek-a-boo

- have two bottom teeth with your top ones just peeking through

Oh, my little girl...how on earth did I get so lucky as to be chosen as your mother?  Everyone who meets you comments on what a happy, content little baby you are and I wholeheartedly agree (you definitely have your "moments", but they are few and far between).  As your mother, I am obviously somewhat biased in that I think you are the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.  But after that nice lady at church came over and commented that your face should be on diaper packages and baby food jars, I'm thinking I'm not the only one who sees it :-)

Love Mommy

The bedhead look

Peek-a-boo! I see you!

  3. I haven't gotten around to doing her proper 8-month photo shoot yet. On her "birthday", I thought her bedhead looked too cute not to capture :-)
