Dear Katelyn,
Ten months old. Ten MONTHS old. TEN months old.
It doesn't matter how I say it - I cannot believe that you are ten. months. old already. And, man alive, you are changing so much each day. New "words", new expressions, new movements - it blows my mind at how quickly all these little things are happening. My little baby is disappearing and being replaced by an adventurous, curious little toddler. Even though you're not toddling yet :-)
Have I mentioned before what an easy baby you are? Actually, I should add "for the most part" to that statement - that whole ear-splitting, shrieking at the top of your lungs, break-the-crystal-glass scream that you do just because it's fun can stop right now mmkay? Thanks). Up until two weeks ago, you needed to be swaddled, soothered and snuggled if we wanted you to go to sleep. Now? You refuse all of those things and just want to be laid down in your crib. You do still need your soother, but all it takes is the first song on your lullaby cd, some gentle back rubs and voila! It's lights out for you. Should I point out that you sleep until 8:30am? Maybe not, because I have to see some of my blog readers in person and they might want to kick me in the taco for saying this. But I do want to share it because I feel like a failure of a mom in a million other areas and this is my one small "Yes!" that I can wear on my chest like a medal of honour.
At ten months old, you:
- still haven't gotten up unto your knees for crawling yet, but I can almost hear your thoughts of, "Wtf is the point of crawling when I can army scoot faster than Mommy can catch me?"
- love your toast and bananas for breakfast
- love your sippy cup, but more because it's cool to watch the water splash around than it is to actually drink out of it
- scream and squeal when you see Shandi and Baby Kitty
- stand up every chance you get and you LOVE to reach for things on the breakfast bar (ie: the phone cord, Mommy's purse)
- wave hello the instant we walk down the hall in the morning - even if no one is around
- do not like getting your diaper changed and will wiggle, worm and writhe to get out of having to lay down. Yes, I have put your diaper on and dressed you while you were on your stomach and attempting to crawl away.
- are interested in EVERYTHING
- make me laugh every.single.day
Thanks for being my sunshine, Pumpkin.
Love, Mommy
PS - There are no pictures to accompany this post because Mommy (surprisingly) hasn't taken many of you this month. In comparison, there are only about a dozen pictures of Mommy from birth - 12 months in Grandma's photo album. Seeing as I was the fourth kid, I wouldn't be surprised if the only "baby" photo is of the back of my head as I drive away for my first day of university :-)
