I have a tendency to jump from one thing to the next, without so much as a breathe in between. There are times when Mike can barely keep up with my prattling on because I skip back and forth from topic to topic with no explanation as to how I got there.
I also have a tendency to jump from one project to the next. I get an idea, grab onto it and run like the wind until I'm bored with it. Sometimes, the running (or, in my case, a slow waddle) can last for a couple of weeks. Take, for instance, a couple of years ago when I read a series of books that were baking mysteries (a local baker in a small town always seemed to get caught up in solving murder mysteries in her town). They may not sound like the most exciting books, but the cool part was the fact that there were cookie and cupcake recipes added into the plot. So, for a couple of weeks, I became a baker/cake decorator. I bought all the necessary baking accessories like cake pans, food colouring, fondant, cupcake liners etc. I'm pretty sure I even thought about going into the baking business. Then, just as quickly as the obsession appeared, it fizzled out. In the last couple of years, I have taken up painting, drawing, scrapbooking (barely) and photography. None of these "hobbies" have lasted very long.
And now? I have fallen deep into the world of hair accessory designing and I am loving every minute of it. And I can't see it ending anytime soon (especially since I just devoted an entire room to all of the materials needed to create said hair accessories). Each day, I look forward to Kat's bedtime so that I can retreat to my office to whip up something new. Since I finally have a space where everything is displayed in front of me, I love to just sit and stare at the ribbons and embellishments and wait to see what will jump out at me and scream, "Create me! Create me!". Up until a few weeks ago, I could barely sew a button on a shirt. Today? Not only do I know what a running stitch is, but I can actually do one :)
The sad thing is that I have created a bunch of new items and I get so excited to create the next one that I haven't stopped to put the first item up onto the website. I also have a tendency to neglect this blog :) The other sad thing is that I have a crapload of goodies that will be showing up in a week or so and I still haven't finished posting the last load of stock that I received.
It is honestly a good thing that I only work two days a week at my other job, because Sweet Baby K is very quickly turning into a full time job! Now, if you'll excuse me, there are more organza flowers begging to be made :)
That's great! I'm jealous you use your free time. I am usually so exausted after bedtime I can't move from the sofa.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how coffee will be because I too transfer my thoughts to my mouth a wee bit too fast.
lololol...I read the same series, but I threw the books out, after I ripped the recipes out of course!
ReplyDeleteYou took it a step further than me, I never bought the accessories...you are too funny!
See you at work this week!
