The Longest Ten Seconds Of My Life

I walked in the door at lunch time to discover that my doctor's office had called.  I glanced at the answering machine and saw the red light flashing.  I think my heart stopped beating for a moment.  I push the button to listen to the message.  "J...it's _______ from Dr. A's office phoning.  Could you please give us a call back when you get this message?".

I pick up the phone and dial the office.  As the line is ringing, I realize I'm not breathing.

They don't phone back for nothing.

They only phone when something's wrong.

No news is supposed to be good news, but now this is news, so it can't be good, right?

Breast cancer isn't supposed to hurt and my boob hurts so it's not cancer.

Who the f@#k left the creamer on the counter all morning?  Oops...my bad.

Note to self: add creamer to grocery li...

"Hello...Dr. A's office, _____ speaking.  How may I help you?"

******

It turns out, the only reason they wanted me to phone back is because my doc knows I have a tendency to, uh, worry sometimes.  He wanted to ease my fears and let me know that the mammogram was totally normal and everything is okay.  That is some stellar bedside manner right there.  Best doctor ever.

So, although we still don't know the reason for the pain in my boob (or, tit-itis as I call it), at least we know it's not breasticular cancer.

Phew.

  2. Happy to know the results were normal, that your doctor was so thoughtful. And just so you know- creamer sits on the counter all morning here when I'm HOME, and it's fine (that fake stuff, though...). :)
