I've been working on sign language with Kat. I started with her pretty much at birth and then gave up around month eight. Wouldn't you know it - she was paying attention all along :) Shortly after Christmas, Kat started signing "eat", "more", and "all done". She gets them a little confused sometimes, but she has the gist of it.
Lately, we've been working on "cookie" (a very important word in any vocabulary as far as I'm concerned). I didn't bother looking up the actual sign for cookie so I just started signing "cracker" (I won't try to explain what the sign looks like). Over the last week, before I give Kat an arrowroot, I sign "cookie" (while saying the word) and then grab the box off the shelf. When I want Kat to sign back to me, I ask her, "Show me _________" and she will sign it.
Tonight? I asked Kat, "Show me cookie!". Being the uber intelligent kid that she is, she pointed at the shelf where the cookies sit.
She never fails to crack me up :)
