Question #1: What type of dishwasher detergent do you use? Brand? Liquid? Powder? Those little cube things? The reason I ask is because we are having a bee-yotch of a time finding something that doesn't leave white scum all over our dishes. We are currently using the Cascade Liquigel stuff and it is doing a decent job, but our glasses are always left "murky". We tried one Cascade MegaActionPowerScrubbingSuper tablet thing and what a nightmare that was! Every single plate, glass and piece of cutlery was left coated with a thick, white scum...blech!
Question #2: For any of you out there who share a bed with your husband/spouse/common-law etc., do you (meaning the women) sleep on the side of the bed that is furthest away from the door? When we brought Kat home, we needed to change our room around to accommodate her bassinet. Previously, I was sleeping on the left side of the bed (furthest from the door) and when we switched the bed around, I then chose to sleep on the right side (again, furthest from the door). It's not like I said to myself, "I want Mike to be first in the line of fire if we are broken into". It just sort of worked out like that. Now that we've switched our room back to how it was pre-Kat, I am, once again, furthest from the door.
So tell me...what type of dishwasher detergent do you use and is your side of the bed furthest from the door?
Hey Jyl
ReplyDeleteWe use those tab things, not the ones you have to unwrap but the gel ones that you just pop right in. But I think your issue may be more about your rinse aide. Do you use Jet Dry? I sleep closest to the door which unfortunately means I am the first one to be woken up when Taylor comes in our room.
Jyl - try adding a tsp of citric acid to each load. worked like a charm for us. you can buy it at nutters.
ReplyDeleteJames insists on sleeping closest to the door always. at home, at my parents, in hotels..... so by default i get the furthest :)
we used the casacde gel things, but we have been getting the white scum as well, maybe PA water? lol
ReplyDeleteI always sleep on the right side of the bed, never thought about it, but I am closest to the door. When I am home alone, I opt for the middle of the bed, which is the most comfortable place imo.
Cheers! Let me know what you find out about the white scum :)
We use the Finish tabs, and they seem to do a good job. We also use Jet Dry.
ReplyDeleteAs for sides of the bed, I always sleep on the right side because Jay needs the left side to transfer out of his wheelchair. In our house it happens to be the side that is furthest from the door.
oh and if you decide to try the citric acid, we use it with cascade powder. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOkay first of all ... wtf is a deeesh-waysher? Like holy high tech anyways. Sounds way too advanced for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd Corey and I switch. When he works he sleeps closest to the alarm clock (furthest from the door) when I work, vice versa. It's almost like a crazy game. But when he works nights neither of sleeps on a side we take the whole bed.
1. PC Green Dishwasher tabs: a bit pricey, but awesome. I am saving $ by using vinegar instead of Jet Dry and the dishes have not fared any worse since quitting buying Jet Dry.
ReplyDelete2. I sleep on the left side because that is the side I like to hang over when I am on my stomach. In most places (home, hotels, etc.) it ends up being the farthest from the door.
Hi Jyl ..we use the finish tabs with the red dot in the middle and I sleep furthest from the door! lol Shell
