A reader recently asked me why I blog...why do I put so much of my private life out there, for the unknown public to read (my apologies to you, N, for taking so long to respond to this :) I've been chewing over that question for a little while now, trying to come up with an answer.
I thought back to my original intentions for starting this blog. I value humour and it is a daily part of life in this house and, over the years, I have often commented to Mike that we should have our own reality show (I'm nothing, if not humble). Since I didn't think any TV producers were scouting PA for talent, I figured blogging would be a close second.
These are the reasons that I have come up with:
I blog because I love to write.
I blog because I love to tell stories.
I blog to share the funny interactions between my husband and I.
I blog because I enjoy the community that goes along with it.
I blog because I love to make people laugh.
That's pretty much it. No more, no less.
To answer the second part of the question (why do I put so much of my private life out there), I guess I would have to say that I don't put everything out there. The way I keep my blog in check is by asking myself whether I would my parents to know/read about this. My parents are not regular readers of my blog, but I know they look at it from time to time. That's the reason why I will never post about anything intimate between Mike and I (as far as I'm concerned, everyone in my family is a virgin...we do NOT talk about sex). I also try to avoid talking about parenting issues/struggles/frustrations. I do what I feel is right for Kat and I don't want to put myself out there to be judged on my parenting skills.
I hope that answers your question, N :)
Ciao for now.
Thanks for the reply (& explanation). I do find you humourous & you have put a smile on my face with some or your stories or comments after a crappy day at work. I have also learnt some things... a lot of things from you (condom catheter comes to mind).
ReplyDeleteAs for sex, I hated telling my mom she was going to be a grandma, as then I would be admitting that I had sex (even though I was married).
