Two Months

Dear Bubbaloo,

Two months. TWO months.  Two MONTHS have come and gone since you joined our family.  When I was pregnant and your due date was two months away, it felt like forever until I would get to meet you.  And now?  In the blink of an eye, that time has passed and you are no longer a "new" newborn.  You're not even an "old" newborn - you're an infant.

The first few weeks of your life, you were a "fussy" baby.  Now, other mothers might want to slap me because my definition of fussy likely differs from theirs.  You had crying spells that lasted a whole two minutes and it wasn't because you were hungry or wet.  Your fussy days have passed and you are a calm, content little guy.  You only "cry" when you want to be fed or changed (unless you've crapped your pants - then you're happy to sit and stew in it).  Your cries have become to similar to what your sister's were - squawks and grunts.  I realize how truly blessed I am to be so lucky twice :)

You have been throwing out the smiles for the last two weeks and your wee little grins absolutely melt this mama's heart.  You are a charmer and are likely going to break a few hearts in your lifetime. Your gummy little grin, combined with your beautiful blue eyes, is enough to woo any woman who comes across your path.

You are just beginning to discover your hands and I am so excited for all the learning that is going to happen in the next year of your life.

You are one strong, little man.  From the day you were born, you have wanted to hold your head up.  In the above photo, you are only five weeks old and you held this position for quite awhile, without Mama's hands to hold you up.  I think you look like you're ready for kindergarten in this shot :) Your strength is also evident in your arms and legs.  When you're having tummy time on my tummy, you push your legs so hard into my stomach, it seems as though you want to stand up.  When you are chewing on your fists and I'm trying to get your bottle into your mouth, it's like trying to get into Fort Knox.

The days of being up early with you are quickly passing.  You are a rockstar sleeper and you give me up to eight hours of sleep.  There's the occasional night where you want a change in the early hours, but other than that you're a typical man who enjoys a solid sleep.

You also love your baths.  Whether it's in your own little tub or if you're sharing a bath with Mama, you love the warm water and the ability to happily kick and squirm.  I always get a good giggle when I pick you up out of the water and you scrunch up your little legs, leaving only your little sac, freely swinging about.

Before you were born, I was worried as to whether it's possible to love two children equally.  The moment you were placed on my tummy, I knew there was more than enough room in my heart for you.  Along with your sister, you are my reason for waking in the morning and the reason for the smile on my face as I fall asleep.  Your presence pushes me to be the best Mama that I can be and I thank you for that.

Love, Mama

  1. I love those photos - did you take them yourself? I especially the one of him hanging in the "net."

    So precious.
