Dear Miss K,
I can't believe that five years have come and gone since I first held you in my arms. I will never forget that moment that the nurse gently placed you in the crook of my elbow and I was able to finally give you a once over. Ten fingers. Ten toes. Perfect lips. One nostril bigger than the other, just like mommy. You were and are perfect.
I love how much you love to cuddle and I hope that never stops. Throughout the day, you stop what you are doing just to come give me a hug or a kiss. Daddy and I are not allowed to leave the house without giving you several hugs and smooches. Even after that, you sit in the window and make sure to wave good-bye to us...even if we're only running to the store for milk, you want to make sure that we know we are loved by you.
You are a smart girl. And I want you to know how proud I am of you for all that you can do. The books you are reading are at a grade two level. It makes this mama's heart so proud that you love to read and that you love being read to at bedtime. You ask questions that give me pause as for how to best answer them...how to answer them so you don't feel cheated of an answer, but one that is also age appropriate. Your language and vocabulary is out of this world...the sayings you come up with let me know that you are wise beyond your years. It almost makes me dread what's coming in your teenage years, but I know we will work through the turbulent times together.
You are a busy girl. You love playing make believe with your little characters and your Barbie dolls. You love putting on fairy wings and fluttering around the house. You love playing Wii. You love your Minecraft. You love building things with Lego. You love pretending the bath tub is a swimming pool as you do your laps. You LOVE jumping on your bed...especially with your little brother. You love playing on the computer and creating pictures on Disney Junior. You like typing "stories" on Microsoft Word. You love going to Grandma and Grandpa's house. You love helping Grandma bake cookies and playing "train" with Grandpa. You love to go swimming with Grandma and to gymnastics with Grandpa. You love your dance class and you LOVE your preschool.
You are a beautiful girl. I love your gap toothed grins and how your eyes turn into crescent moons when you smile. You have a giggle that melts my soul...especially when I've been the one to instigate the giggle! I love your chubby knuckled hands and the way they grip mine at bedtime as you're falling asleep. You are perfect...exactly as you are and don't EVER let anyone try to tell you otherwise.
As I wrap this up, you are playing on your new karaoke machine that you got for your birthday. You are singing at the top of your lungs, making the speakers reverberate at their maximum level. And I love it. It will only further your creative, musical, performing side…a side that has been showing itself more and more lately.
Thank you for being the sweet, kind, considerate, caring, thoughtful, intelligent, curious, funny, and bright little being that you are. I love you more than you will ever, ever know!
Love Mama
....And I love the way you write about her from your heart!!!
