To My Valentine

Dear Mike,

I'm sorry I didn't get you a Valentine's Day card.  I should have been the one to go out on Saturday but it was just so crappy out, I didn't feel like it.  I should have been more prepared and gotten you the card earlier, but things just didn't work out that way.  So here is my Valentine's "card" to you…an entire post dedicated to just you.

Thank you for being you.  Without you by my side, I wouldn't be who or where I am today.  We've been through a lot during our fifteen years together, especially over these last five years.  Thank you for always standing by my side and putting up with my antics.  You are beyond patient with me and I can't thank you enough for that.

Thank you for giving me two beautiful children and for being the wonderful father that you are to them.  You are so loving and kind and you are teaching our children to be the same way.  You always take the time to play with them and they will be forever grateful for that.  You never have to think twice before getting down on the floor to play ball with Katelyn, even though it might aggravate your knee.  You cuddle with Andrew when he needs to be calmed down.  You take them for sleigh rides.  You listen as K talks about her Nintendo 3DS.  You're always there for them, no matter the situation.  They will come to appreciate this more and more as the years go by.

Thank you for all that you do around the house.  You are the one that is working a full time job and yet you still find the time to clean the kitchen, throw in laundry, tidy the living room, shovel walks, take out the garbage and make suppers.  Granted, you don't have to do this ALL the time, but you have no idea how much I appreciate it that you do so much in our home.

Thank you for all that you do with Joel.  It is no easy task looking after him and you do everything with him…changing his diapers, feeding him and putting him to bed.  As our two littles grow up, I have done less and less in this department and I can't thank you enough, especially since my OCD skyrockets with regards to Joel (unfortunately).  Joel appreciates it too…having a daddy that does all of this means the world to him.  It's no wonder he gets upset when you have to work and it's up to me to take care of him :)

Thank you for being the patient, loving, kind, compassionate, intelligent, funny, sweet man that you are.  I couldn't have asked for a better partner in life…you are my kite string holder.  You keep me grounded and balanced.  You make me laugh.  You lift me up when I need it.  You straighten me out when I'm heading in the wrong direction.  You are my constant companion and soul mate.  Thank you for all that you are to me.

Love,

Your Babe
