Canada Day Weekend 2016

For the Canada Day Long Weekend, we headed up to Little Bear.  We spent time with Uncle Brady, Aunty Kristan and their girls, Hudsyn and Blayke.  Uncle Britt, Isabella, Amiya and Amptyn were there, as well as Grandma and Grandpa and Great Grandma.  It was a full cabin, to say the least!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the lake is my haven.  If I were to ever go off my meds and detox, I would do it up at the lake.  I forget to take my meds when I'm there.  It's just so relaxing.  Mom and Dad have invested thousands of hours into the cabin to make it the gorgeous living space that it is…and the work just never seems to end! There is always something to fix or redo.  As I type this, Britt, Bella, Mom and Dad are up at the lake (during this yucky rainy time!) to redo the flooring in the upstairs bedrooms.  Time for the thirty year old carpet to be replaced by laminate flooring!

We spent lots of time down at the beach in front of our cabin.  Thanks to lower water levels these past two years, we've been able to enjoy a larger beach space instead of the usual two foot by four foot chunk we're normally given.  Andrew has no fear of the water and loved jumping off the end of the dock.  Because he can't swim and because he couldn't get his footing under him right away, he stayed under water for longer than he should have.  This only happened once before the jumping was then done hanging onto Mommy's hand.  Katelyn also loved jumping off the dock, wearing Hudsyn's Frozen inner tube.  The kids pretty much spent the whole day in the water, save for a few trips up to the cabin for lunch and potty breaks.

On Canada Day, we headed to the new park the resort has installed.  There's a beach volleyball court, play-structure with slides, teeter totters, a bin with trucks and bull dozers and a large sand hill.  Bella, Katelyn, Grandpa and I played a little volleyball.  I fell/dove for a few of the balls.  I'm surprised I didn't break a leg, with the intensity I was playing with! We headed back to the cabin for lunch and then moved down to the beach where we spent most of the day.  In the evening, we headed out onto the lake to try and find the fireworks…we were sure someone would be setting some off.  We were heading in the wrong direction when the fireworks started going off behind us so we booked it back across the lake just in time for a great display!  After fireworks, it was time for some hot chocolate and the musical stylings of Uncle Britt.  I requested the song Britt played while I walked down the aisle…brought back such special memories!

The rain held off for the weekend until we were heading home.  A quick stop at Caribou Creek for some ice cream is always a must!  It was pouring rain when we stopped so we were soaked by the time we were back in the vehicle with our goodies.

All in all, it was a great weekend, filled with great food, time with family and lots of outdoor playtime.  I'm looking forward to August Long Weekend when it will be the usual suspects PLUS my sister, her husband and their two boys! Talk about a packed cabin!!

And so it goes...
