Halloween 2015

This year for Halloween, Miss K wanted to go as Coronation Anna.  I wasn't going to shell out for the wig that went with the costume as K's head size tends to run on the large side and it likely wouldn't have fit.  Katelyn was happy that the costume came with a hair doodle (which I never got a picture of), but it was a gold clip with ribbons hanging down, just like Anna wears.  The necklace broke shortly after putting it on, but luckily it still hung on the one side so Mama didn't have to pull out her sewing kit!

Katelyn was pumped to be able to wear her costume to dance last week, although it was tough to do all the jazz moves with the big, bulky skirt.  Still, she had fun and that's what matters most.  On Friday night, the kids got dressed up in their costumes and we headed to our church for some early Halloween fun.  There were booths set up with different games and activities, but Miss K was too shy to participate in any of them.  Andrew just clung onto me, sliding down onto the floor every chance he got.  At 7:30pm, a magician was on the main stage and that was really good.  By 8:15, both kids had had enough so we called it quits and came home.

While we were at the church, I bumped into the mother of a classmate of Katelyn's and she asked why we weren't at the school's carnival the night before.  Turns out, I haven't been receiving the class texts! I was so bummed that K missed out on a chance to have fun with all of her classmates! So today, I wrote a note to the teacher, asking how to reset getting the class texts and emails so we don't miss out on anymore fun events!

Halloween Day…we carved our pumpkins in the afternoon.  Miss K wanted a cat so I did what looks like the shittiest cat ever.  Not on purpose…I was just done with carving pumpkins and sort of rushed through the planning stage and just started cutting.  Katelyn was happy with it and that's all that matters.  Mike tried a little more difficult one, using a template and it turned out great!

After a quick supper, it was time to head out trick-or-treating! Katelyn was beyond pumped to finally get to this part!  She was a little disappointed she had to wear her jacket over her dress, but it was too cool out to go without.  By the third house, I was shivering.  I should have worn a thicker coat!  Katelyn had freckles drawn on her face and she got a ton of compliments on them! We made it to about 30 houses before calling it quits.  When we got home, Mike drove Katelyn over to "Halloween House"…a house the next street over that goes apeshit bananas decorating.  They hit a couple more houses and then it was home time.

All in all, it was a pretty great Halloween 2015!
