Vegas 2015

To put it succinctly, Vegas was awesome! We shopped, we drank, we smoked (no, I haven't quit yet…back off!), we gambled, we napped, we ate and we relaxed! It was a blast!  We went down with three other couples and it was nice to have the camaraderie while we were out and about.  The first night we got there, we checked into our lovely suites at the Venetian and, grabbed an expensive bite to eat ($46 for two burgers and fries!!), then promptly hit the strip.  We walked all the way down to the Bellagio and watched the fountains.  We stopped along the way to gamble and buy drinks/slushies.

Our 650 sq ft luxury suite, complete with living room and dining room set.

The bathroom complete with double sinks, a soaker tub, separate Roman shower, a vanity station and a private ensuite for toileting.

Soaking my feet at 3am after walking the strip for four hours.  My feet were stinging!

The next morning, we phoned our babies and chatted with them for a bit.  Mike was a bit rough around the edges from his shenanigans the night before (I called it a night at 1am…Mike and the boys stayed downstairs and drank and gambled).  Most of the day was spent napping and relaxing while everyone else went shopping.  We went downstairs to eat but I wasn't all that hungry.  We met up in another couple's hotel room for pre-strip walking drinks.  We made our way over to Caesar's Palace to eat at the Cheesecake Factory.  I still wasn't that hungry, so Mike and I shared a small pizza.  I had two strawberry daiquiris.  I was shocked when the bill came to see that they were $11 each! Wowzers! Nothing is cheap in Vegas (besides Walgreens).

On Sunday, we slept in and went for lunch at Panda Express…awesome meal and cheap too!!
We gambled for a bit and then met up with the group.  Sunday was spent walking down to the Wynn and gambling for a bit there.  Then we walked over to The Fashion Mall and had supper (Subway and burritos).  I didn't feel much like shopping so Mike and I went back to the hotel to hang out until we met up with everyone for pre-evening drinks.

My favourite game…Titanic!

On Monday, we took the bus down the strip and headed to the Luxor to go to the Titanic Exhibition.  This girl was in her glory! As a Titanic Maniac, this was heaven on earth! My favourite part was the recreation of the promenade deck on the night the Titanic hit the iceberg.  They had the temperature dropped in the room and stars out…so cool! After Titanic, we walked through Excalibur to the Hershey Store.  Didn't buy anything there.  Walked through New York New York and then cut across the street over to the M and M store.  We bought Katelyn a cup of personalized M and Ms with her name on them.  She loved them!! After that, Mike and I caught the bus back to the hotel (with a quick stop at Walgreens again!) and relaxed before pre-supper drinks with the group.  Mike and I decided to go to the Outback Steakhouse while everyone else went to Margaritaville.  We met up with everyone back at our hotel in the casino.  Mike decided to stay downstairs and drink and gamble.  I decided to take my night pills and chill out with a bath and some tv.

Tuesday morning we were up early to get to the airport.  Somewhere between security and Carl's Jr, Mike lost his cell phone.  Poor guy. He was so dejected! I would be too, I suppose.  But when we got home, there was an email from McCarran airport saying they had an item that belonged to us and to please call them.  By Friday, Mike's phone was safely back in his hands!

All in all, it was a wonderful time away together.  Lots of hand holding, time to chat and visit with each other and just some good quality time alone.  I'd say the highlight for me was the Titanic Exhibition.  Let's hope we don't have to wait another seven years before we can get away together!

And so it goes...
