We'll See You Later!

So, this will be my final post for awhile (unless I find an internet cafe along the way, but I doubt it). Today is obviously a crazy day. And at 10:00 this morning, it got a little crazier. I have been taking care of my parents' properties while they are away and this includes checking their phone messages. This morning, there was a message from SaskEnergy saying that one of their rental properties is going to have the gas shut off (the tenants pay their own utilities) and that SkEnergy hoped the house was winterized for Mom and Dad's sake. Crap. The last three weeks, we've sailed along with no calls from any of the tenants and of course this has to happen the day before we leave. When I phoned SkEnergy, they wouldn't give me any information. While I respect their privacy act, I explained the situation and they still wouldn't give me any info. So, being the genius that I am, I asked them to please phone my Mom and Dad back and leave another message explaining exactly where and when the power was going to be shut off (I couldn't hear it clear enough on the original message). The operator realized she wasn't going to get rid of me easily, so she just asked when my parents are coming back. When I told her the date, she said the gas wasn't going to be shut off before that. Phew. Crisis averted.

I don't know why I leave things to the last minute. Maybe it's because I enjoy the adrenaline rush. Maybe it's because I enjoy the pressure. Maybe it's because I'm a procrastinator, through and through (Procrastinate Now!). That being said, there is a huge list of things left to do. And here I sit, blogging. Laundry is the biggest thing on the list. Why, oh why did I leave ten loads of laundry to do in one day? Then there's the packing and the cleaning and the odd bits of running around and Shandi's agility class tonight and the boys' bathing and trying to do all of this before 10:00 tonight. Yeah, good luck with all of that.

As I sit here listening to Holiday Road from National Lampoon's Vacation (which will become the theme song for our road trip) and as I look at the long list of things waiting to be crossed off, I realize that this is the last vacation we'll take together as 'this' family. Next year at this time, there will be another member added to our family (and I don't mean we're getting another dog). Mike and I said to each other on New Year's Eve that this was going to be our best year yet. Given what's happened so far and what we hope to happen, I think that is one prediction that will come true.

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter break!
