Friday night: my date with Dixie was a great evening. The food at Amy's was all right, but it definitely wasn't worth the price (and everyone I've talked to has said it has really gone down hill in the last six months). We decided to skip the theatre and just came back to my place. We sat and chatted in the living room while we took turns with the foot bath. We filed and scrubbed our feet and then filed and buffed our finger nails. Mike came home with poutine for each of us, so I whipped up some healthy strawberry-banana-orange smoothies to go along with our high-fat snack (because the two items would cancel each other out) and we climbed into bed and watched Titanic. It was great to spew out all the lines again :-)
Saturday afternoon: My friend, Christine, and her husband, Matt, and their daughter, Carys, came over for coffee and sweets. I am so choked that I forgot to take a picture!! The visit was awesome...within thirty seconds of Mike and Matt meeting for the first time, the two of them were off and chatting like old friends. It was a great afternoon with lots of laughs!
Saturday night: Mike and I went out for supper with two other couples from work. While the food itself was really great, it definitely wasn't worth the price! The crappy part of the evening was that we were the last table left eating and the servers started scrambling around us and clearing off all the other tables and began setting up for the following morning's brunch (basically telling us to f*** off). When our server asked us if we would like dessert, one of the guys asked, "What? Is that to go?". Needless to say...we didn't tip. Again, we took our camera with us, but forgot to take a picture.
After supper, one of the couples came back to our place and we hung out until 2:30 or so. The wife works at the maternity ward, so I bombarded her with 18 million different questions...definitely an informative evening!
Sunday: my family came over for a 60th birthday supper for my mom. I was so very proud that I was able to efficiently get all the food on the table at the same time and everything was still hot! Oh, and it tasted pretty good too :-) As per usual with my family, there was a ton of laughs.

Weeeeeeyyyyyyy, what a great week end, Jyl!!!
ReplyDeleteYou and Dixie look so happy and beautiful! I just can't work out how you can dress so lightly? I read on 99powerfm that you are having -28 in PA!!! What did you put on before stepping out?
I am happy to hear that you have seen many friends and family... please, give my HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your mom (I know it's not now, but anyway, she'll be away). Great to see all of your family gathered, it is so home and heart-warming, isn't it?
I wish I was there with you girls, with my feet in the soapy water and then watching Titanic!...
Well, Dixie put on knee-high boots and a winter jacket. I put on my winter jacket, but I was wearing my high heeled shoes with no socks! Again, we're only outside for a moment or two before getting into the restaurant.
ReplyDeleteThe top I am wearing is more of a summer top, but it does such a good job of hiding the undesirable parts of my torso!
I wish you could have been there too...hmmmm...perhaps this summer we may have a quick chance to do just this!
Ya, Friday night was a fantastic night! Thanks for that. (And I may have to send a letter to Amy's complaining...)
