I can't believe that I forgot to post about this! On February 7th, my mom threw Katelyn the most wonderful baby shower. I know it's not kosher for the grandma to throw the shower, but screw the formalities...my mom has the biggest living room and we needed as much space as possible!
It was a day for being "blown away". I was blown away by how hard my mom and grandma worked to make all the little details just perfect. Mom made sure all the food was pink and brown (except for the fruits and veggies...not much you can do there to change the colours). The dining room looked like the perfect tea party, complete with lace tablecloths and the good china teacups.
I was also blown away by all the people who showed up for the shower...it made me feel very loved! Lastly, I was blown away by the generousity of not only the people who attended the shower, but of everyone who has lovingly given Katelyn gifts! She has definitely been spoiled!
Since you only get one baby shower, my mom wanted to do it up right (having showers for any subsequent kids just seems greedy to me, but to each her own). I do know that with my second baby, I definitely want to have a "baby meet-and-greet" where it's all the same elements of a shower, just without the presents. That way, everyone can partake in the delightful food and fun little games without shelling out any money. Plus you get to cuddle a brand new baby...it doesn't get much better than that :-)

The lovely table setting

The scrumptious fruit tray! Mmmmm...fresh pineapple, strawberries and fruit dip...yum!

The yummy veggies and dip!

The wee tiny cupcakes!

The dyed-pink macaroon cookies and mint brownies...nom nom nom!

And the finger sandwiches...oh my word! Special ordered bread that was dyed pink and brown. The long sandwiches had egg salad and ham flake layers. The choice of little round sandwiches had peanut butter and banana, cream cheese and cranberries or tuna with pickles. Sooo yummy!!

Playing the "Guess The Flavour of Poo" game

I stole the next few pictures from Carmen's Facebook because I forgot to get a picture of Katelyn or myself at the shower!

She was such a good baby and loved being cuddled by everyone!

I started the day off with my hair down, but it was so dang hot in the house!!

Katelyn was very spoiled! Thank you to everyone who came to the shower and thank you to those who couldn't, but still gave Katelyn a gift. I am blessed to have such wonderful friends!
I can only speak for myself, but that shower was FABULOUSO!!!! (New word)
ReplyDeleteI was honored to be invited and so cool to see me and Carmen(?) guessing the poo...we were very focused.
